Quayle Award 2008

Who’ll win this autumn’s Ruthin & District Civic Association Quayle Award for the building that through its design or restoration has contributed most to the town (or local villages nearby)? It is almost time for 2008’s declaration.

This is the Quayle’s 20th anniversary, the first award in 1998 going to the Gareth Lynch Jewellers (Clwyd Street) restoration. Though there have been three years without awards, for the last 20 years the Quayle Award has honoured what the Civic Association feels is the best in Rhuthun and beyond. The Adult Education Centre, Ysgol Brynhyfryd
Glasdir housing development (winners of the Wales BREEAM environmental award)
The conversion of the former Banton and adjacent residential property, Clwyd Street
Canolfan Grefftau/Craft Centre, Lôn Parcwr
Nantclwyd-y-Dre, Castle Street (gardens complete and open 2008)(RICS Welsh Building Conservation Award 2008)
The Picture House bar restaurant
New canteen, Ysgol Brynhyfryd

For what it’s worth, we think the winner will be... click here
