Food for Thought

Another phase in the improvements to Ysgol Brynhyfryd officially opened yesterday – the new canteen building. Due at the start of the current academic year, the delay was principally owing to the arrival of special glass. This ends the building works on site, though if you’ll excuse the pun, you can’t make an omelette without breaking eggs.

So popular was the dining hall yesterday that the queues were excessive and it was even reported that some pupils missed their lunch. No doubt more pupils than usual wished to sample the new facilities though we would be surprised if the actual food’s changed. Normal service will resume, as the novelty wears off, no doubt.

This is another significant investment in the premises at Brynhyfryd and it follows the new 20-classroom block opened in 2004 and other building works in 2001/02, both of which put paid to the significant number of ‘mobile’ classrooms.

The photo shows the canteen as it looked on the last day of the July 2007 school term.
