Rhuthun Looking Up?

It’s really great to report a weekend of activity that’s largely been so very positive for Rhuthun. And in the teeth of the recession, too:

Reebee’s flourists Clwyd Street have moved to premises adjacent to its existing shop. Reebee’s now occupies the former Baroque, a far larger unit that’s allowing Reebee’s to diversify slightly and expand. This compensates for the June 2009 closure of long standing Grosvenor Florists. Baroque continues to trade in Dinbych.

We understand the former Reebee’s premises will shortly find itself occupied by a children’s clothes shop, named Blackcurrant or Blackberry or some such.

Meanwhile, Edenbloom has opened as a brand new florist in Well Street, in the long-standing empty Vale Insurance premises. It’s a somewhat odd location as the windows aren’t conducive to showing off the florist’s range.

Where once there was hairdresser MDUK, as of Saturday there’s a new beauty parlour opened up on St Peter’s Square. It’s called Vanity Fayre and it was not so long ago that a lady’s fashion shop occupied the same building, with the same name.

Caledfryn Credit Union of Dinbych has taken the former Molyneux/Dodd’s building on St Peter’s Square, including the area to the rear, along Upper Clwyd Street. Hurrah that this prominent building is at last re-occupied.

The refurbished Children's Society shop is due to open this week.

It’s sad to see Uptown Furnishings leaving the town centre, after about 2½ years. A sign in the window states that they are now located at Lôn Parcwr. Corwen Carpets, also on the industrial estate, offers similar services.

Simmi women’s fashions (and now men’s clothing) has been taken over—and safeguarded, with no break in trading.

We must also mention Ruthin Traders taking most of the former Majestic Travel, on the Square.
