County Council Survey Results—town centre shops

More people in Rhuthun use their nearest town centre shops on average every day than elsewhere in Denbighshire. 22 per cent of respondents said they did. 18% did so in Dinbych and only 11% in Y Rhyl. On the other hand, 79% of respondents used Rhuthun's shops at least once a week. 83% did so in Dinbych and 77% in Y Rhyl.

The number of people in the Rhuthun area who felt that the range of local shops in their nearest town was satisfactory was above average. 61% of respondents were satisfied with the town's range of shops. This compares to 40% in Dinbych and just 29% in Y Rhyl. The average was 53%. Prestatyn was not till recently a shopping destination but the opening of the Parc Siopa Prestatyn in the town centre resulted in 85% of respondents being satisfied with the range of shops there. The new shops in Prestatyn have probably had an effect on perceptions in Y Rhyl.


The number of people in Rhuthun who rated shop staff in their nearest town as satisfactory was average. 84% of Rhuthun respondents felt shop staff were satisfactory. This compares to 82% in Dinbych and 75% in Y Rhyl. The average was 82%.

However, the number of people who were satisfied with Rhuthun's shop opening hours was the lowest in Denbighshire. 75% were satisfied with the town's shop opening hours. This compared to 85% in Dinbych and 82% in Y Rhyl. Prestatyn was not till recently a shopping destination but the opening of the Parc Siopa Prestatyn in the town centre resulted in 96% of respondents being satisfied with the town’s shop opening hours. Some shops in Rhuthun open at 10 a.m. A number close at or before 5 p.m. A significant number close on Saturday afternoons. There is no Sunday trading worth speaking of.
