Shutters Up

The new convenience store and off licence on Well Street opened this morning at 6 a.m. It'll close this evening at 12 midnight, as it will do each day, including Sundays and bank holidays. This means that few of us will have to suffer those shutters, now in any case painted to match the shop frontage.

By comparison, grocery and convenience retailers in Rhuthun/Ruthin open at follows:

Retailer     Mon-Sat     Sun
RSM 6 a.m. to 12 midnight     6 a.m. to 12 midnight
Bridge Services (Texaco) 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. 6 a.m. to 11 p.m.
Morrison's Daily 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Co-op 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Aldi 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Tesco 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
B & M 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Theft, bad language and abusive behaviour to staff have resulted for some time in a limit on the number of Brynhyfryd pupils shopping at B & M

Inside, and it's pretty much standard convenience store fare. A cash machine, cigarettes, a few cosmetics, a few detergents, a pile of newspapers, lots of alcohol, lots of chocolate and lots of soft drinks. School children will find it opportune both to and from school. The owners will need to be mindful of Brynhyfryd children's reputation for theft, of course... all is not well with those children, if you believe staff at B & M, who continue to guard the entrance at 3.30 p.m.

Perhaps because of curiosity, perhaps because the owners have generated a new market but there were customers the twice I went by. One spent £20.

Finishing touches... although some work is still required, as seen on the top photo
