The Next Controversy?

We can see that these 'pavement extensions' are gonna be just as popular with residents as the active travel scheme. As the county council coned off part of St Peter's Square early yesterday morning, you could almost predict the groans on Facebook.

Æsthetically displeasing These are a temporary measure. Little point in investing too much, just yet. They aren't too ugly, though, are they?
Obstructs traffic along one flank of The Square They are no worse than a poorly parked car. They could actually slow traffic right down which, if so, would be A Good Thing
Takes away parking space on The Square     Plenty of alternatives in Rhuthun/Ruthin, on- or off-street.
Some will sit with their backs to reversing cars There are guard rails. Few if any cars when reversing out actually damage cars. Why would they hit the guard rails?
Installed at the wrong time of year    Definitely a missed opportunity but the businesses who requested them have been dragging their feet

It has to be said, though, that it would've been preferable to see seating in the centre of The Square rather than along the periphery. And, we do so need a proper, structured and strategic approach to St Peter's Square to re-balance and re-prioritise for pedestrians.
