The Ides of March (Today)

Today was the Glorious 15th.

Interesting that neither Beauty on the Square nor the House of Hair & Beauty were open today. These aside, all other hairdressers and barbers were open to take advantage of the freedom they are accorded from now on to open as usual.

When we say 'as usual' we mean that patrons need to make an appointment. Over the weekend, Hashm had previously advertised a walk-in service. It was noticeable that this morning the scrolling red sign no longer mentioned this... but it was evident from the numbers seated patiently within that it was possible simply to turn up. This, of course, was against the appointments-only rule.

It was interesting that it was barbers who remained open at 6p.m. this evening. Hashm, predictably, was doing good trade. The Lox Box was open but I couldn't see how many were in. Lads & Dads has a customer. I assume Cutting Corner was also benefiting. The Salon (Clwyd Street) had at 6p.m. only just packed up.

In other news today... there were a few Ysgol Brynhyfryd uniforms around today, as years 11 and 13 returned to face to face teaching. And, perhaps as a result, perhaps not, there was a marked increase in morning peak traffic to levels unseen since the summer. Still not up to usual, though.
