News Update

  1. Now that Amber Bridal is using the large display windows to great effect in its new home the former Ruthin Carpets, its old premises at the rear of Castle Mews form another part of Choo Choo. This is the third of four units on the ground floor of Castle Mews to fall to Choo Choo. The original sells gifts. Upon Mococo moving out, the adjacent one called Choo Choo Etc Etc sells clothes and accessories. And the rear unit stocks furniture. The other tenant on the ground floor is a hair & beauty studio.
  2. The Picture House is at last preparing and selling food again, after a long gap. The new menu doesn't appear so pricey as the original.
  3. It's good to hear that a number of publicans reported a better Saturday, now that the V2 nightclub is open again. The importance of V2 for the pub trade cannot be underestimated. And I guess neither can the problems at Canol y Dre. Truly a dilemma.
  4. On Sunday, Rhuthun Weather has relaunched itself and appears to be morphing towards a blog style.
  5. We apologise for any misunderstanding about W & G Jones. Following the report in Thursday's Denbighshire Free Press, the café was *not* implicated in the recent hygiene issue affecting the butcher. We took our lead from the Free Press that implied it was both (see middle column, penultimate paragraph and the reference to "two businesses"). We nevertheless should have checked. We have removed the post and the reference to the café went within hours. Those who read the post might like to note that it only uses details supplied in the Free Press, an *abridged* version of which appears here.
  6. As a result of this, this is the last post to appear on the Rhuthun/Ruthin blog. Those who have sent vitriolic emails about the aforementioned might consider contacting the Free Press rather than me (see point 5. above). Thank you for all the loyal support over nearly six years. Has it been that long? Runner up in the Welsh Blog Awards 2010 Community Blog was a particular triumph of sorts. I shall miss you all and this blog terribly.
