Update at 8 p.m. regarding Parlour Antiques plus the tattoo parlour also closed last week—see comment at 8 p.m in comments box

Solicitors Michael Taylor & Co of Llanrhydd Manor is reported to have been taken over by sub-regional giant Swayne Johnson, effective from the middle of next month. This follows the sale of W Jones & E Talog Davies to Gamlin's. Solicitors' fees being what they are, perhaps Swayne Jonson might be persuaded to joint the loyalty scheme.

Nearby Rhuthun Wholefoods is back to normal. Partly restocked a week ago, it follows a water leak from the flat above that ruined the entire herbal remedy stock, being the most expensive items in the shop. It's alleged that the incursion was malicious.

Have you noticed that the vivid purple-coloured "socks" around the Craft Centre trees are now removed?

Occasionally, you see vehicles for sale on the former Slater’s car showroom site. Just like old times, really. The latest is an elderly grey van for which the asking price is £850. Perhaps not like old times, then.

Phew. Saturday's monthly seasonal Produce Market was up to its usual number of stalls, again. There were 25. Last month, there were far fewer. Was it me or did it seem less busy with patrons than this time last year? This in spite of the warm and sunny weather over the weekend.
There’s a large "banner" on the railings by the Station Yard roundabout (so-called Tesco roundabout) reminding us of the forthcoming scarecrow competition. There are a small number of posters around, too, one of which is in Edenbloom florist…

… which closed unexpectedly, last week. All that's inside now is a child’s car seat. A former Reebee's employee opened it six months ago. Never the ideal premises for a florist owing to its lack of a window display, Martini commenting on this blog suggests that a florist is about to open at the corner of Well Street and Castle Street, next to Boot's the Chemist at the former Lucinda. Now, that's a far better proposition though we cannot corroborate.
The small annex that used to be part of majestic Travel on the Square will shortly be opened by Parlour Antiques & Tea Rooms. Currently, there are two "antique" chairs in each of the windows either side of the door. The shop unit's small but there's an attractive staircase within that has interesting possibilities.

Also being fitted out is Paige fine arts and framing, Upper Clwyd Street, in the former sandwich bar (which has moved next door). Nothing competes with a picture framer, in town at any rate.
