Our Children

Today’s Denbighshire Free Press leads with a story on the Children’s Society charity shop in Rhuthun/Ruthin. Because the society no longer works in Wales, its profits from its only Welsh outlet are exported to England or overseas. The Free Press wonders whether this is fair. Inside the same issue, the Free Press also runs a two-page spread on the vulnerability of children. One page has a more or less local focus. The other, a harrowing tale, could be from anywhere. So the question is, in terms of children in need, is there a sort of universality we can't ignore, a difference between Welsh, English or any other child? Or, should charity begin at home? And if at home, where in Wales?
