This Week's Notes

The Farmers Union of Wales’ move at the back end of the week from its offices near the Watergate further up Clwyd Street is a positive albeit temporary one. Clwyd Street was again starting to look a little empty, especially at the upper end of its southern side. And that’s exactly where the FUW has gone. We trust FUW will lead a renaissance in this part of Clwyd Street. FUW’s relocated is to the recently opened-closed-empty former Project 2/Ragazzi/Fever shop that has latterly held the temporary Discount Designerwear. Before that, it was basically empty of staff but housed a number of pianos. In fact, a baby grand currently remains within, reduced from £875 to £575.

A sign appeared on Friday telling the world that The Malt House restaurant had arrived at the Anchor. Overheard as two women watched was, “It’s been the Anchor for years. Why do they want to change it?” They’re not, of course.

Also overheard was a couple who’d dined in the Castle Hotel for a fiver each. They seemed more than satisfied with their meal and its cost.

Studio 21 barbers, Clwyd Street, has benefited from the addition of barber’s red and white diagonals in its windows.
