More Changes

It’s continually amazing how the face of Rhuthun constantly changes, even a year after Tesco arrived, or perhaps because of it. Just when Clwyd Street was looking a little the worse for wear, there’s cause for optimism.

The premises on Upper Clwyd Street many will know as Aldridges the newsagent (Coombes, then gift shops culminating in Iris) is destined to become, well, we cannot yet say a health & beauty salon. It’ll be something not dissimilar to one of the premises already on Clwyd Street, though. The former Saddle Up at the junction of Clwyd Street and St Peter’s Square (latterly Alton Murphy, till they moved) we understand is under preparation as a gift shop specialising is soaps and suchlike.

Meanwhile, the empty Ragazzi last week reopened as Project 2, selling leisure fashions. It’s even conceivable that the former optician Banton at the foot of Clwyd Street may soon be back as a lock up store, after over 20 years as a vacant property. It sold a year ago under auction.

Meanwhile, over the hill on Wynnstay Road, the vacant failed pizza shop next to the Tandori is under preparation as a Mexican cantina. Rather novel.

We wish all who feel they can fill the gaps well.

Established St Peter’s Square café Bar Llaeth (Milk Bar) is very recently up for sale, with business specialist Knightsbridge Property. £70,000 buys.
