Glasdir Update

Two interesting things happened last week. The first was the installation of a number of yellow roadsigns pointing towards the new Glasdir development. They’re up on almost all approaches to the town and even as far afield as Dinbych.

Glasdir at Dusk: all is calm overlooking RhuthunThe second was the opening of a five-bed show home on the Glasdir estate.

In spite of the tough conditions, sold signs are appeaing on Rhuthun's Glasdir developmentTaylor Woodrow Bryant George Wimpey or whoever they currently call themselves these days is getting serious about marketing Glasdir. And, a couple are actually marked as sold. The price of the cheapest two-bed flats is reduced to £119,000. But just who is the builder? It seems to have passed from Bryant Homes to George Wimpey and back to Bryant Homes. Reference to Glasdir on the Wimpey website's been removed.

Once marketed by Wimpey, Glasdir's now back with Bryant Homes...There’s little evidence of new building on the site, though some footings are in adjacent to the current housing. Instead, the builder is tidying up nicely. The ponds at the front of the development are ‘landscaped’ with young trees and seeded to grass. The development looks a whole lot better now that one of the entrance apartment blocks is finally faced in stone. The other is part complete. You wouldn’t believe the difference this makes. They’re still grey but they actually look warmer and more in keeping, even though they continue to dominate the rest of the site. The finished low-rise housing behind is quite acceptable and there’s a good range of property for a number of budgets.

The entrance flats are much improved by stone facingAs an aside, it’s interesting that if you dial up ‘Glasdir Ruthin’ into Google.com, this blog comes first & second but if you then try Google.co.uk, we’re nowhere.
