News from the George Wimpey development at Glasdir is that, aside from the units earmarked for Cymdeithas Tai Clwyd, just two are sold. The current economic climate and mortgage restrictions are putting people off and this isn’t good news for the developer, Rhuthun town or Denbighshire. The development was never really popular here but accepting that it’s part built, the idea of idle housing is wasteful. There’s no contribution to the local economy. The longer they remain unsold, the more likely more than the developer may be forced to add to the 36 designated for social housing but this time from well outside the area with its consequent impact on Rhuthun, its schools and facilities.

Meanwhile, further development’s understood to have halted owing to drainage of the local area.
