Back to Normal

On Monday, road workers took down the 40 mph speed limit on the A494 east of Rhuthun towards the 30 mph zone at Llanbedr DC. The stretch of road returns to its former status, allowing motorists legally to drive up to the national speed limit.

The road speed limit had previously been 40 mph, since the fatal one-car crash of 25 April.

The original post on the reduction drew a number of fairly angry comments, all of whom will no doubt be delighted to see a return to the previous regime.

Meanwhile, it's widely rumoured that the stretch of road on the A494 adjacent to the aforementioned former 40 zone, past the four schools and one nursery, may be the subject of a 20 mph limit. If true, no one can argue against that. Unless, of course, you feel that there should be flexibility to climb to 30 at weekends, evenings and during school holidays.
