Remember Remember

There’s new life on Lôn Parcwr.

The autumn move for Uproar Fireworks from Clwyd Street to Lôn Parcwr (with gap) was completed well in time for Bonfire Night. A high proportion of its business is mail order or corporate supplies and you really don’t need a town centre location for that. For those who visit in person, though, the warehouse does seem a little bare compared to the shop. Ah well.

Fireworks is a growing market. Where once it was confined to November 5th only, now its new year, weddings, birthdays and other parties.

Yet even here, Tesco was offering cheap fireworks. There was nowhere in town selling them, not even at the Co-op.

Tengo Media is one of what we called back in February the “young Turks”. On 1st September, Tengo moved from premises at Church Mews, Llanfair DC to Lôn Parcwr Industrial Estate in (or rather on the edge of) town. It was only on Saturday that it celebrated its official opening. It now sells computery bits-and-pieces, including systems, software and printers. And, it’s yards away from its main competitor, Boyns Computers. In fact, you need to pass Tengo to get to Boyns. Neither are likely to face a significant threat from Tesco.

During its official opening, those who came along with a green post-it from the front of the Denbighshire Free Press could enter a free draw. Trouble was, the paper did a Free Press Special and somehow managed to stick the post-its on selected papers only. We trust Tengo won’t be paying its entire bill and we wonder how Tengo subsequently managed its draw.
