Independents Days

Another gap in Well Street closes next Friday – now surely establishing Rhuthun as one of the best examples in North Wales of a town offering a vast array of independent shopping.

In fact, with so many quality small traders in the town, Rhuthun/Ruthin now offers something quite unique. We’d already suggested that Rhuthun could promote itself as a centre for independent fashion. The new store adds to that genre. We’d go further, though, and suggest a promotion based on independent shopping, full stop.

The new shop fronts Well Street from Castle Mews and is called Twenty-3 (sic). It appears to sell accessories and some home furnishings. It’s the former John Bray Travel/M I Financial Management outlet.

But why independent shopping?

We think that of up to sixty non-hair & beauty/food/estate agents/banks/charity outlets in Rhuthun, 95 per cent are independent. The emphasis is on independent fashion and accessories.

Aside from supermarkets, the town supports just five chains (two of which sell clothes): Boots, Ethel Austin, Oddbin’s, Seconds Ahead and Tresher’s.
