Ever thought of buying this year’s Christmas gifts solely in Rhuthun/Ruthin and nowhere else?
It can be done. We managed it as a family in 2003 – for grandparents, children, parents, cousins, nephews & nieces, uncles, aunts, friends & neighbours. Obviously, if you are thinking of a sat nav for the car, you may have difficulties. An unusual CD or DVD may be a problem. But we reckon that just about anything else is available from Rhuthun retailers, given enough notice – even that sell out toy for the kids.
Town traders complain of at least a 15 per cent drop in trade post-Tesco. Yet, if 2006 is the same as 2004 & 2005, the town will make every effort to attract its residents’ custom. You may consider it difficult to buy in Rhuthun absolutely *everything* you need or want, but you could try to purchase as many Christmas gifts from the town’s independent retailers as possible.
