The Ffordd Gyswllt Ogleddol Rhuthun/Ruthin Northern Link Road– Glasdir, the road to Tesco – opened Saturday lunchtime, though as yet it isn’t signed for motorists at either of its entrances. The delay since the charity walk of 8 October was to finish a length of footpath and cycleway.
It’s already seen its first incident. This stricken Ford Escort Estate was abandoned by this afternoon on the midway roundabout, with damage to its front and to the off side front wheel.
Why was it there?
The tracks leading off the roundabout in the Lon Parcwr direction can only be made by a vehicle travelling from (or over) the roundabout itself, and not the Escort. Was this a second car involved in the incident? Was it unrelated? Did some youth (or other) either injudiciously or intentionally drive over the roundabout at speed?
Tomorrow sees the start of drainage works on Park Road and Wernfechan. No doubt the link road will come into its own during these works, expected to last till Christmas.
