A Newcomer

A walk into town on a sunny afternoon yesterday up Prior Street and there was the uncharacteristic sound of the playground and something like a lawnmower being dragged over concrete. A diversion to investigate and it was the happy and carefree whoops and shouts of children playing at The Cloisters and one racing up and down on a wheeled toy (mercifully not on a lawnmower).

Ah, so our new warden at St Peter's has arrived, with his family. As sad as it was to see Stuart Evans retire after his dozen years, our new incumbent is most welcome. Later today, at 3.30 p.m., the warden will be licensed officially by the bishop of St Asaph and the warden's work will officially begin. He's to work alongside the mission area as a 'pioneer priest' and that, no doubt, will become clearer this afternoon.

It's been a long while since there's been any children at The Cloisters. Together with laundry drying on the rotary airer, they made the place look alive.
