Ring Dem Bells

Is there such a thing as bell ringer's elbow? If there is, we're sure the St Peter's band have it, all thanks to recent events at Balmoral and in Llundain.

The bell tower was open today, as part of Open Doors. Two of these bell ringers are local and two are visiting... from Romsey, Hants, England

Thursday evening at 8 pm it began half-muffled, following the death of England's queen. Then joining other towers across the UK, there was an hour at noon on Friday of the treble tolling every 20 seconds or so. Saturday and the band rang half-muffled as part of the Open Doors festival for about 30 of their allotted 45 minutes and in the evening for half an hour at 6 pm there was a further peel, this time in honour of England's new king. Then there'll be Sunday's ring before the 10.30 am service, tomorrow, and before a second at St Peter's, at 6 pm, this being a service of commemoration for a certain recently dead person.
