Works Very Near Completion

As work on the Cae Ddol earthwork concludes, Natural Resources Wales yesterday opened the unofficial link from Crispin Yard & Mill Street, above. This is designed to allow access on foot without eroding the bund itself. It's a good idea... but for the fact that the Castle wall is still under repair. That wall looks decidedly dangerous.

It is, of course, welcome to see the Castle wall receiving attention. As you can see, above, the replaced stone looks unsafe and, circled in red, there remain blocks on the ground, as tripping hazards. Meanwhile, below, the fencing is removed (not by NRW) along that other part of the wall that was barriered because it was unsafe.

At the same time, NRW has cut the wooden fence posts from this...

... to this.

The higher-than-usual fencing atop the bund is to try to stop youths from carrying their bikes over and thus prevent erosion of the banks by stunt riders. They'd damaged the previous set up.
