Developments on the Food Front

In buying On the Hill restaurant, the two-premises Fat Boar has now become a chain of three. We sincerely wish them well, as they prepare to open in Rhuthun/Ruthin. The experience will be different to On the Hill and that's no bad thing. The Fat Boar bought the property on October 2nd and have spent November altering it. We now know that the premises will be called 'Fat Boar on the Hill'. When they open, it will help address the shortfall in restaurant seating in Rhuthun.

As will the letting of Plas Coch, for which signage appeared last week. If it's let. It closed in August this year. We anticipated this being sold but letting it is probably a better option, as it can then continue as a hospitality venue.

Plas Coch is reportedly our oldest building, other than the Castle itself and possibly the church. As such, it predates the sacking of Rhuthun. It's important to us therefore or, rather, the frontage is. It needs a safe custodian.

Update: the December 2021 edition of the Civic Association's 'Town & Around' shows the erection of a new Fat Boar sign... with a young worker (bottom, right) perched upon a set of ladders atop a work van! Very safe!
