Tourists, Info and Something New to See

I walked the length of Well Street, over the Square and Clwyd Street and back today. Aside from shop owners and people delivering, in one direction I recognised one person. In the opposite, it numbered two. What did that mean? The town wasn't busy by usual standards but there were a fair number of visitors about and they significantly outnumbered locals. Are we heading towards a further boom year in tourism, like post-lockdown 2020? Interestingly, Clwyd Street was rather thin, with more at the top end of Well Street and, of course, across the Square.

Meanwhile, the Old Courthouse was again open and the sign outside told us that you could get tourist information within. It seems to double as a community centre... which, to me, has social services connotations. The town council runs the place and has been trawling for volunteers for it. The application form I saw was so seemed to be very searching. It was almost as if you were applying for a 'real' job. To date, at least according to a couple of prospectives, there seems to be little interest on the council's behalf in using volunteers.

I wonder whether visitors noticed the rendering missing from 21 Well Street. The wattle and daub looks contemporary but look behind and you can see something potentially much older.
