Here's the results of Thursday's town council by-election. Our two new town councillors are Christine Ellis and Ethan Jones. We were wrong about
the vote but not far off. And neither are we surprised.
Turnout at 32 per cent was slightly higher than we predicted, too. Postal votes came in at 47 per cent of those cast, which must be some sort of record. You would expect 25 to 30 per cent. The interesting thing, though, was that about a third of postal votes issued were not returned. And, one person managed to vote for more than the prescribed two candidates! I always wonder who such a person was.
