Aggrieved of Rhuthun

This from yesterday's BBC news:
Meanwhile Mike, from Ruthin, who is also on holiday in the Algarve in Portugal, said adding a quarantine for the whole mainland was unnecessary when most of the cases concentrated in other areas.

"I feel very aggrieved by it. We do appreciate when we made the decision that things could change at any given time, but our decision was based on when Denbighshire alone had more deaths than Portugal, so that's why we made our decision to come out here," he said. "I emailed Vaughan Gething yesterday and asked him the question 'has anyone been out to the Algarve to see what's happening here?' Because the cases in the Algarve are very low."
There does seem to be a lot of anger among those in various parts of Europe suddenly added to Wales' list of quarantined destinations. Since such decisions are designed to protect us all and since everyone who goes abroad, Mike included, knows 'things could change at any given time', then quarantining is all part of the gamble. Because travelling on a confined space of an aircraft to a foreign destination where nations mingle is just that, uncertain and a lottery. What is the first question asked of you if you are contacted by Track Test Protect or when you phone the doctor? Have you been abroad.

And neither is it all about deaths ('Denbighshire alone had more deaths than Portugal'). For those who don't die, the illness can also be debilitating and it is one from which it can take a long time to recover.

I doubt, then, there will be much sympathy with Mike even though, at a personal level, we none of us would like to have to sit at home for two weeks. But this is for the protection of us all. There's only one sure way to ensure you never need to quarantine after going abroad and at the moment that's not to go abroad.

And, should Mike have travelled out of Denbighshire anyway? "Our decision was based on when Denbighshire alone had more deaths than Portugal" might indicate that he was being insensitive in potentially carrying the virus from an unsafe area (Denbighshire) to where he felt it was relatively safe  (Portugal). Denbighshire, after all, had a higher rate per local authority than most others in Wales at the time.
