Saved for the Community

It felt like Wetherspoon's on the Friday before Christmas. But instead it was the so-called "pop-up pub" in the former Griffin, Llanbedr.

If only the place was that busy all the time, it wouldn't've closed.

This, though, was a one-off special occasion, as part of a five-hour re-opening, to help seek community views—and donations—in order to secure the future of the building.

The building's been bought by a local with a view to leasing it as a community interest venture so that the pub and accommodation can re-open and the building be used as a so-called "community hub".

Our plea, though, is that no matter what they do, they should lose the fireplace.

It was very clear from the preferences shown by those who attended the afternoon & evening that they felt the priority should be the opening of a shop-cum-post office together with music nights. Yet, the proposals, certainly as we understand them, do not actually include any retail space at all, let alone a post office.
