Spring at Last—and Craft Centre Crowds

The long, wet, snow-filled and, above all, cold winter has passed. It's been the worst since the dreadful 2010. Temperatures today reached a heady 14°C in the spring sunshine and didn't the town come alive. More people were out than we seem to have seen in January and February in total, all walking around enjoying the freedom that good weather brings. There was evidence of new faces i.e. visitors. The new outside seating area at Wetherspoon's was alive with chatter and laughter.

Meanwhile, in the 'burbs, there were the sounds of children playing and the constant hum and thrum of lawnmowers, as residents made their very belated first cuts of the season. Denbighshire's green bin roundsmen look out next week.

Meanwhile, it couldn't've been a better day for the Craft Centre to launch its 10th anniversary exhibition to some excited spectators. Much was new but there were three pieces that appeared 10 years ago, in 2008, in the new building's first tear including the three Pegasi above. The ever energetic Philip Hughes and Jane Gerrard were buzzing around and on hand to greet. No security guards needed (unlike during the previous exhibition when we saw for the first time a bouncer on hand to prevent theft or touching).

Meanwhile, it being a warm day, as you might expect, bikers were out in force. We make no secret of our distain for these nuisance people who make lives a misery for local residents, along the A5104, the B5105 and the A494. They have zero consideration for those who live near their routes and none for other people's safety. We saw several on Mwrog Street overtaking law-abiding vehicles travelling at or near the posted 30 mph limit.
