Tesco Car Park Plans

Tesco Rhuthun/Ruthin was the reason for why we established blog but, almost 11 years after its arrival, hardly these days gets a mention. Now, though, we must comment on Tesco's planning application to make modest changes to the layout of its car park and, most significantly, build a traffic island at the vehicular entrance to discourage traffic from turning right out of its store.

This follows the Christmas cones and Heath Robinson signage.

The application states that
"Operational issues, particularly at times of peak demand. The proximity of the car parking aisles to the site access can result in delays to customers seeking to exit the site which, in turn, can lead to issues at the site access. This can serve to prevent ready access into the site and thus create delay at the A525 Lôn Parcwr right turn lane"
The move, if approved, will be a positive one and those who do wish to turn right will find that the trip around the Old Station Yard roundabout is not too exacting. I bet, though, there will be those who try to squeeze around the junction and turn right. It's almost a given.

In December 2016, above, Tesco reinstated the use of road cones first used in 2015 to discourage motorists from turning right onto Lôn Parcwr. The sign's often there but the cones disappeared for much of 2016. Notice the very odd arrow, which seems to imply traffic turning from the wrong direction
