It's good to report that Café Rh reopens again this morning. It closed at Christmas. It's taken this long to get a new tenant. It wasn't easy and no one came forward so the county council has let its own catering people run it. The council's catering department is usually responsible for school dinners. I trust the product and service at Rh is much higher. I bet the prices will be.
There's talk of the new tenant being subsidised by the taxpayer. The tenant is in fact a trading arm of the council. But I for one would not be adverse to subsidy if it ensured the unit was let. Without it, Ruthinians are much less likely to visit the centre, in spite of some very good exhibitions recently. Without it, the there are fewer reasons for visiting the craft centre.
The pictures shows the café this morning, ready to go, with cakes out, tables ready, menus set and a specials board chalked.
