So much for Small Business Saturday. OK, so the weather was blustery and at times wet, especially during the afternoon. The Christmas tree on the Square was rolling in the gusts like a Turkish belly dancer. But there were no more people in Rhuthun/Ruthin than during any ordinary non-summer Saturday. The post office was unusually queued to the door thanks, presumably, to people buying stamps for Christmas cards and all three counter windows were open. Elsewhere, patrons were few.

The town was empty during the afternoon, as it usually is on Saturdays. It helps not at all that some of the shops closed as usual (e.g. Health Food Shop, Prints & Plains, Fineline).

The car parks were free but not even this seemed to lure people to town. It was odd that so was St Peter's Square. Free parking there only encourages space blocking.
