Real Food for Real Thought

We're more used to trumpeting Rhuthun/Ruthin's relative prosperity but statistics as published by the Ruthin & District Civic Association indicate all that glisters is not gold. Between the start of the Rhuthun foodbank in April 2013 till the end of August 2015, a period of two years & four months, the Rhuthun foodbank's 27 volunteers have supplied food to a total of 559 people. Presumably, this isn't 10 per cent of Rhuthun's population and it probably also includes some who live in villages nearby: 559 will be the number of times someone has successfully been given help by the foodbank and that could include multiple people and multiple families. Alarmingly, of these 559 people, 181 were children. Although this equates to an average of just 20 people per month, it's still 20 people per month...
