Major refurbishments at Anchor Corner, with work continuing at Machine (now that it's been vacated by politician Jill Evans and former politician Janet Ryder). The Feathers opposite is being painted up.
The town’s two pillar boxes, on Well Street and on the Square, have recently been repainted pillar box red (obviously) and I must say look resplendent. Till recently, that on the Square looked particularly rough.
Something else that looks resplendent are the summer flowers throughout town. Like last year, the displays have excelled themselves. I'm not sure whether this is thanks to the nursery or the stuff Jeff Brimble uses when he waters. As an aside, I can't recall the name of the man who used do this by driving around with a bowser trailing from his beige car. Can anyone help?
J's Barber women's division, adjacent to the main barber shop in Upper Clwyd Street, is now the second shop in town to feature those strange pedicure fish. The other shop is Veena's, Clwyd Street. As an aside, what happens to all these fish when the fad fades? Do they get dumped in the Clwyd only to breed and swim towards Y Rhyl where, so used to the taste of human flesh, they become man eating predators, killing the summer tourist trade?
