Torpor

About a fortnight ago, one of Rhuthun's most prominent buildings has relied on two supports to keep its entrance canopy and the balcony above from collapsing.

Is this a symptom of Rhuthun at Christmas 2010?

We're talking of the Castle Hotel, a building now quickly sliding into visible decay. The two props are covered in black & yellow tape, to ensure no one walks into them. As such, they are a highly visible reminder of the state of the building.

The Castle Hotel is probably the most prominent among the buildings on St Peter's Square. Clearly visible in front of you as you ascend Clwyd Street, will the Castle Hotel soon pass the structural point of no return? There are already a number of other problems associated with it.

After nearly three years of apparent neglect, can we expect Stephanie to remedy this soon? Please?

And, after three years of town-wide marketing pushes (2007, 2008, 2009), businesses this year seem to be returning to their own individual efforts this Christmas—hooray for the warmth of many gaily dressed Christmas windows. As a town, though, is there a kind of a torpor setting in among us all in Rhuthun, perhaps symbolised by the Castle Hotel's frontage?
