A dry night for a change for Rhuthun’s 2010 late night shopping last night, but a combination of no real notice, no real advertising and falling temperatures put paid to the event. The likes of Hide Away, Cerrig & the Green Lady and Leonardo's were open, plus the usual Thursday late-ish hair & beauty establishments. Sadly, few punters turned out. But it does send a signal that some shops are willing to open at times more suited to the busy lives we lead.
Perhaps the sharp afternoon snow showers put people off. These started at 2 p.m. By the evening, there was no evidence of this, other than on grassy areas, though the hills were niveous for the second time this winter. The aforesaid temperature dropped from 7°C in the morning to –1°C by the time the late night shopping closed, a difference of 8°C; and as I prepare this (at 10 p.m.) it's –3°C with the weather station dismally showing snow for later.
