Closed

It appears that a further Rhuthun/Ruthin shop is closing. But in this case, appearances are deceptive. The "closing down" posters that appeared on Friday in Seconds Ahead, Market Street, refer not to the shop but to one of its two warehouses. The word "Warehouse" is so small when compared to those shouting out "closing down". Something to do with the flat pack transport of its clothes rather than by the traditional method on rails and hangars, it seems, though we can't verify this. Flat packs, eh. Does this mean customers need to assemble their own garments? And will there be an arm or a button or a zip missing?

In fact, Rhuthun's Seconds Ahead is about to be rebranded as Trade Secret, something that's appeared on stickers on its hangers and on plastic bags for some while. Trade Secret stocks a large range of items (for Rhuthun) on two floors and sells cheaply. Featuring chain store surpluses, it's the B & M of the fashion world, though a tad more upmarket. Occasionally, products include those identifiable from Marks & Spencer, even though give-away tags are usually cut off, something that can be a bit of a nuisance when hunting for washing instructions.

Closed on Saturday was Ty'r Goron/Crown House, Well Street. This is at least the second closure recently, a previous one owing to illness (though on that occasion, Crown House opened later). This time, it was probably something to do with Crown House Catering providing nibbles for the newly opened show home at Glasdir.
Also closed on Saturday plus today (and next weekend) is Borthyn, for resurfacing work to help complete the roadworks outside Ysgol Borthyn. In what might be considered bad timing, this forced all Borthyn traffic onto the northern relief road just as Taylor Wimpey was wooing prospective Glasdir purchasers with grub from Crown House. Glasdir purchasers would have seen the adjacent road as rather busier than usual. Clifford Jones was working, too, sending the usual plume into the air.
