The Good & Not So Good

First, the good news. 93 per cent of respondents in the 2010 Rhuthun/Ruthin Blog survey felt that this blog was either always or usually impartial. This in spite of some recent comments alleging bias. What’s even better news is that those who feel we are always or usually impartial has increased since the 2009 survey, by eight per cent. (Click on the graph if you want it magnified.)

Now, the less good news. Though a third of you are telling me that this site is “excellent”, this has dropped by six per cent since this time last year. Though marginal, this isn’t in the direction I’d hoped. But statistics don’t lie. Still, I can at least take comfort from there being a +4 per cent change since 2009 in the total who said “excellent” and “very good” combined. And unlike last year, no one felt this blog was “poor”.

And the bad news. Far fewer of you are visiting this blog quite so often. 14 per cent arrive here daily. That’s half the number when compared to 2009. The number of visitors arriving either occasionally or just three or four times a week is static. This means there are now 28 per cent of visitors arriving weekly, compared to 17 per cent a year go.

It’s not difficult to understand why there are fewer daily visits. First, January & February 2010 are slow news months. The main reason is likely to be because, this time last year, the Rhuthun/Ruthin Blog went into hibernation at its very peak: perhaps people are out of the daily habit. But we’ve been broadcasting again since October 2009, though, and our overall page views now match those of February 2009. We reckoned this would take a year whereas it’s been four months.

Many thanks to all those who took part in the 2009 survey. There were just five fewer responses than in 2010. We’ve more information but please be patient: it will follow.
