Turned On

Busy weekend ahead. The town’s Christmas lights have their switching on this afternoon, at 4.30 p.m. or, rather, the Christmas tree and overhead town lights do. Those lights festooned in the Square’s general trees are on all year round and the Christmas trees at Wernfechan and Lon Fawr are also now ablaze.

Expect no “ooohs” and “aaahhhs” this year, as our attractive town lights appeared for the first time *last* year. It’s an occasion, nonetheless, to add to the many festive windows we see about town. I wonder what the 4.30 p.m. turnout will be like. It’s usually slightly pitiful, sad to say. We reported last year that the parallel event in Dinbych was thronged, as it was again this year. For Rhuthun, Rhuthunweather expects a 40 per cent chance of rain this evening.

Here’s a quick preview of what the lights on the Square will look like, top right, during Christmas tree testing.

Saturday, we have the Produce Market from 10 a.m. Try their website for more details as it’s not just about produce. Last year, this helped considerably to draw people to town.

We would also like to take this opportunity to thank the produce market website for their kind words of welcome (back) regarding this blog, on their front page, no less : )

And while on the subject, thanks, too, for the messages of support via various comment links and by email. All appreciated. Non
