Bravo Rhuthun

Bravo Rhuthun! Yesterday's turnout in town was exceptional. The organisers of this year's Christmas marketing campaign—ANRGHEG Nadolig—will no doubt be very happy, especially when compared to last year's efforts that sort of backfired. It's amazing what you can do on a low budget and by rallying shopkeepers to join together to offer 10 per cent off (more in one case).

Mind you, it did take till after 10.30 for numbers to warm up. But warm up they did. The Produce Market held more stores than usual and was busy, as was Clwyd Street as shoppers moved up and down between the market at the Gaol site and St Peter's Square. The Cffylliog church restoration stall on the Square was equally busy. Spotted in the morning were people from Dinbych and, indeed, further afield.

Yes, the bright weather helped. As did two coachloads of tourists in the afternoon.

Bravo Ruthinians. And bravo to all who organised this year's Christmas push.

As our deputy mayor said in a comment to Saturday's post, this push is to cement Rhuthun on the Christmas shopping map. It ain't over yet.

Meanwhile, the lively debate as to the success or otherwise of ANRHEG Rhuthun continues in the comments box associated with this post. (Oh, and we did get coachloads, but that was probably an amazing coincidence.
