Of course, since my last posts were dated February and June 2009 respectively, you’d expect readership here to have nose-dived. The graph below illustrates the point quite poignantly, in the four years since I’ve been using a counter.
The Rhuthun/Ruthin blog began to take off at or about June 2006, raising steadily till March 2008. After that, woooosh, till the high of February 2009.
Thereafter, things have decayed pretty dramatically, as you’d anticipate. Even now, after everything, page views still equate approximately to May 2007 levels. That’s not because of regular visitors periodically coming back to see if there’s any activity, it’s purely down to search engine arrivals. About 12 per cent still search for the Rhuthun or Ruthin blog, bless them, while about five per cent search for ‘Rhuthun’.
I’ve now simply left it too late to build upon previous readership. Life moves on and so have my ‘regulars’. I need to decide whether this is redeemable. If I am to see anything like the arrivals I did last February, I’ve effectively got to start again and work hard at it, too. It may take a year or longer.
Can I pull this off, pull this back from the precipice? Am not sure I have the stamina...
