Drugs Bust

It has come to this blog’s attention that the local police have written to parents at Ysgol Brynhyfryd warning them that the police will randomly use drug sniffer dogs at the school. It’s not a new phenomenon but it is new at Brynhyfryd. It’s sad that in our politically correct times the police need to give parents the option to withdraw their child from this programme. Shouldn’t it be mandatory? It’s sadder that the youth drugs culture has reached the extent in Rhuthun that the police and school either need to do something lateral about this problem or at least be seen to deter pupils bringing drugs onto the campus. What’s saddest of all is that the otherwise excellent name of the school can so easily be tarnished by a minority of pupils. We don’t know the extent to which the police use the opportunity of sniffer dogs to get an anti-drug message across but we guess that this is the perfect opportunity for them to support the school in this field. It should be more than just about a dog "indicating on a pupil" as the police put it.
