News is that Porth-y-Dŵr/Watergate Tea Rooms, Clwyd Street, has reopened. It was put up for sale in February 2007, was sold and shut from June 2007, and now let since August. It reopened on Friday and indeed was serving even on Sunday.
It’s currently under the management of a Bwcle/Buckley couple, one apparently originally from Liverpool and the other from Northumberland. They are reported to have rented it for a year as an extended trial, before perhaps making a purchase. It's good to see the building in use again and we welcome them.
They do need their windows cleaning, though!
