When the new Craft Centre opens some time this summer, what will happen to the gallery in Well Street? It’s temporary and as of Saturday now enjoys a pre-relocation sale of up to 50 per cent off. With its move, will there be yet another gap in town?

The gallery's natural place is, of course, back at the Craft Centre but even so, it’s a shop that the town centre will miss.

And the craft centre is *still* attracting visitors, even though the place has been closed for redevelopment since January 2007. Such is the association between the Centre and Rhuthun that people are still arriving, though obviously in small number. Shopkeepers feel that the closure was one reason why trade last summer in the town itself was poor (and the weather no doubt had something to do with it). The town does realise that this would have to be the case and this is why the town has such high expectations of the new Centre, as the finishing touches finally sweep aside completely the older, tired buildings.
