Pace Continues

The recent pace of change affecting the face of Rhuthun town centre continues to astound. The former bric-a-brac & antiques shop at the junction of Well Street and Station Road, also formerly Blaze schoolwear, is to be converted into apartments by local contractor H Howatson. The former Blaze is actually a large unit when compared to others in Rhuthun but has been empty for some time. It continues the slow change from retail to residential evident in the town over the last 30 years, as the trading town shrinks. It also further isolates those shops on Well Street beyond Blaze, namely Ruthin Wholefoods and Cutting Corner.

The premises formerly Pam’s is to become Tilly Mint Collectables and is currently undergoing refurbishment and will be completed soon. I think you have to be in the know to understand exactly what this shop will sell. It’s unlikely to be food or confectionary. May be it will be books. And whatever it is, it can’t be big, as the premises are perhaps the smallest in Rhuthun.

Discount Designer Wear is in the former Changing Networks phone shop on Upper Clwyd Street. This location has seen a number of incarnations, and long-standing gap between. It was once Jan Bargiel architectural surveyor, Baytree and for many years, Ruthin Décor Centre.
