Name that Road

We commented yesterday on the new northern link road. The only matter outstanding is a name for it. And so, what of that name? We’re not sure who decides (presumably someone in County Hall). Here are some suggestions, anyway:

Ffordd Briec. Better than naming a roundabout after Rhuthun’s Breton twin. Naming a roundabout sounds as if we don’t care; the road would be less of an affront.

Lôn Parcwr. The former cul-de-sac that now forms part of the link road is already so named.

Ffordd Glasdir. Or just Glasdir. After all, the land through which the road runs is called Glasdir.

Ffordd Sant Pedr. After Rhuthun’s collegiate church and the town’s beautiful Square. Views to St Peter's currently extend from the link road.

Ffordd Sir Ddinbych. If Sir-y-Fflint/Flintshire can have a Flintshire Bridge, why not Denbighshire a road? After all, the road does end up at the County Hall and Rhuthun is the county town. A lasting momento should local government reorganise itself.

Ffordd Dyffryn Clwyd. We already have Clwyd Street but what about naming the road after the Vale?

Ffordd Moel Famau. Good views of the Clwydian Range from the link road.

Ffordd Nantclwyd. After the famous, soon-to-be-opened town house in Castle Street.

Ffordd Owain Glyndŵr. The town was rebuilt after y Tywysog Owain Glyndŵr sacked Rhuthun in 1400, at the start of his rebellion.

We're less keen on Ffordd Rhys Ifans, Ffordd de Grey, Ffordd Tom Pryce and Ffordd Cynthia Lennon. We've definitely ruled out Ffordd Tesco.
