Speaking to the Daily Post, a spokesman for Tesco highlighted the benefits Tesco will bring to the community when it opens in August.
"The store will create up to 300 new jobs and we feel that the Tesco store in Rhuthun/Ruthin will be a big boost to the town. Currently a significant proportion of local people are doing their weekly shopping in Yr Wyddgrug/Mold and further a field. Our branch will keep many more people shopping locally in Rhuthun/Ruthin.
"Shops will benefit from people making linked trips to the town centre, and there will be less traffic as people are not forced to drive to Yr Wyddgrug/Mold and elsewhere to do their weekly shop. Traders and parents will benefit like everyone else from the new store."
However, many families also do their weekly shop in one of Rhuthun/Ruthin’s existing supermarkets – Somerfield and Co-op. They supplement their purchases by going into town.
