A Parking Mistake?

We can’t help but think there’s been a bit of a mistake at the county council. This week, we’ve seen new signage erected in our car parks. This ahead of Monday’s tariff change.

Oddly, the brand new, clean and pristine signs refer to the *current* tariffs, and *current* parking periods (not the new).

From Monday, charges will apply to 11 p.m. (not 5 p.m. as shown). The old tariff will also need updating at the same time

So, perhaps the county council has had a change of heart regarding parking charges. Will there be no increase?

We think there will. This is because for the best part of a month there have been notices displaying the new charges strapped to posts in each car park. And there are details online about the new charges.

Under the new arrangements, the charging period will be 8.00 a.m. to 11 p.m. and charges the four charges in short stay car parks 80p, £1.50, £3.00 and £8. Some charges in long stay car parks are cheaper but the same charging period applies to both

It seems it is the council’s intention to have the signs in place for a matter of days and then stick on an update with the new charges and new charging periods. In time, these sticky squares will get grubby around the edges, will fray, peel and loosen, and begin to look soiled, messy and uncared for.

Might it have been better to have the old prices on a sticker for a short time and then to peel that off on Monday March 4th to reveal the new? (Like they did with the brand new 20 mph road signs.)

We asked the work gang putting up the new signs whether the information was correct or incorrect. They werent sure
