From yesterday, the shop on the corner of Well Street and Wynnstay Road was adorned with
purple-ish and white vinyl across two of its windows. Since October 2023, it has been the new address for Awel Care. We referred to Awel Care in passing
on Sunday.
There are two schools of thought, here. The first is that it is good to see a town centre building in use. The second is that there is little that is inviting as windows blotted out like this. Its blankness is as attractive as a brick wall and it lends itself to a down at heel look. Does Rhuthun/Ruthin deserves better? In fact, in October 2023 when this shop was converted to offices, the new owners of Awel Care did actually offer far better solutions that safeguarded the modesty of those within but without obliterating so much of the windows. Some of these solutions appeared much more 'human'.
Update 17/1/24: the vinyls across windows at Well Street's Awel Care disappeared almost as soon as they had appeared
