Yesterday lunchtime and a gang of road workers finished painting white and yellow lines in and around Station Road and Well Street.
It was 11 years ago that one Sunday when leaving our chapels and churches we found a similar situation both here and in the town centre itself. It was one of the major controversies of the 2010s, in particular yellow pavement flashes delineating new loading restrictions. But how soon we got used to them. We said they'd fade and soon they did, as quick as from our memories.
We were the first off the blocks regarding reporting the yellow lines when we coined the phrase 'yellow brick road' four days before the event, which it seems was taken up by one of our county councillors.
