In the Headlines

The just published winter edition of Wetherspoonnews (sic) is out and available from, well, Wetherspoon's. There's a feature on what used to be called Wetherlodges, now simply known as Wetherspoon Hotels. There are 55. Within and on the cover are up to nine examples. One is the Castle Hotel. Let's hope the publicity brings in some visitors. Winter is perhaps an odd time to mention hotels but as Christmastide comes and goes people will turn their thoughts towards holidays and breaks.

Rhuthun/Ruthin is 'the perfect location from which to explore the North Wales coast and Eryri*... as well as touring North East Wales and the North Wales borders'.

There's scant mention of the town of Rhuthun itself or the AONB on our doorstep. They have completely missed off the fact that in 2023 we are officially the best place in Wales to live

Were local management and staff asked before publication? Do they know that we're the best place to live? Probably not. It's hardly been in our consciousness. In fact, we have squandered our one-off opportunity to push ourselves on the national stage. By March 2024, somewhere else in Wales will have taken our crown.
* Eryri is the name we should all now use for Snowdonia. It appears that this is something else of which Wethersponn's is unaware. Mind you, so will most of their readers. Yet, Wetherspoonsnews is always keen to point out errors in other publications.
